Leipsic girls win Mercer Health Invitational

CELINA - Leipsic dropped their first game of the day before storming back to win six straight games in winning the Mercer Health Invitational title.The Vikings dropped their first game of the day to Versailles 26-28 before coming back to win that match 25-21, 25-15 before defeating Toledo Whitmer 25-18, 25-18. Leipsic won the championship match against Celina 25-10, 25-18.
Amber Gerdeman had 27 kills for the Vikings and 10 blocks, while Kelly Nadler had 26 kills and 26 digs. Haley Gerten pounded 20 kills, while Emily Ellerbrock dished out 33 assists and Rachel Rieman had 27 assists. Ellerbrock was 70-of-72 setting and Rieman 61-of-63 with 17 digs. Brooke Gerdeman added seven blocks.
Columbus Grove Tri
PETTISVILLE - Columbus Grove dropped their first game of the day before storming back to defeat Pettisville and Patrick Henry in a triangular.
The Bulldogs dropped the first game to Pettisville 24-26 before coming back to win 25-16, 25-23. The Bulldogs defeated Patrick Henry next 25-8, 25-15.
Julia Wynn had 19 kills for the Bulldogs in the two match and 19-of-20 serving against Pettisville with an ace and five solo blocks. Rachel Schumacher was 16-of-16 serving against the Black Birds with 17 assists and Kelli Vorst had 11 digs.
Sydney McCluer had four kills against Patrick Henry, Briana Glass had nine assists and Hope Schroeder was 12-of-12 serving.
Columbus Grove won two junior varsity contests as they defeated Pettisville 25-21, 25-20 and Patrick Henry 25-16, 25-11.
