Leipsic reaches century mark again in BVC action

LEIPSIC - For the second straight week the Leipsic boys basketball team reached the century mark in Blanchard Valley Conference action.After putting up 102 points on Van Buren last Friday, the Vikings reached the century mark Friday night in a 100-31 BVC win over Hardin Northern.
The Vikings moved to 5-2 in the BVC and 14-3 overall, while Hardin Northern is 1-6 and 3-13.
Leipsic had a 67-23 lead after three quarters before outscoring the Polar Bears 33-8 in the fourth quarter to reach the 100 point mark. Leipsic had a 24-5 lead after the opening quarter.
Devin Mangas led the Vikings with 19 points and Mitch Kuhlman had a big night with 18 points and 12 rebounds. Derek Steffan added 14 points as 13 Viking players scored in the contest.
Hayden Bradley had 11 points for the Polar Bears.
Leipsic won the junior varsity game 67-32.
KALIDA - Kalida and Ottoville combined to score more points in the fourth quarter than they did in the first three quarters of their Putnam County League game Friday night, won by the Wildcats 46-40.
The two teams combined for 42 points through three quarters before they combined for 44 points in the fourth quarter. Kalida outscored the Big Green 24-20 in the final quarter for the win.
Ottoville had a 18-14 lead at halftime before Kalida outscored them 8-2 in the third quarter for the lead,
Austin Horstman paced the Wildcats with 16 points, while Adam Langhals and Devin Kortokrax both had eight points.
Luke Schimmoeller paced Ottoville with 13 points.
Columbus Grove 41
BLUFFTON - Columbus Grove held Bluffton to three points in the fourth quarter Friday night as the Bulldogs rallied for a 41-32 Northwest Conference win.
The Bulldogs trailed 29-27 going to the fourth quarter before outscoring the Pirates 14-3 for the win.Will Vorhees had nine points in the final quarter for Grove and Blake Hoffman added three points.
Bluffton built their lead in the first half as they outscored the Bulldogs 13-6 in the first quarter and 9-6 in the second quarter for a 22-12 lead. Columbus Grove turned the game around in the third quarter with a 15-7 scoring margin.
Vorhees led the Bulldogs with 13 points and Hoffman added 10 points.
Levi Kistler had 11 points for the Pirates.
