AYERSVILLE — For the second straight night, Leipsic's girls basketball team had the defense working early.

Playing in the championship game of the Ayersville Holiday Tournament, the Vikings allowed the host Pilots just 10 points on their way to a 46-23 win. The win allowed the Vikings to repeat as champions of the event.

Leipsic allowed the Pilots just 10 points in the first half as they had a 30-10 lead after two quarters. The Vikings outscored Ayersville 15-5 in each of the first two quarters. The Vikings finished off the win with a 16-13 second half scoring advantage.

Heather Lammers led the Vikings with 15 points. Carlee Siefker added 14 points with four rebounds and three assists and Kierra Meyer had 10 points, seven rebounds and five assists. Peyton Henry had five rebounds and two assists.

Meghan Engel and Felicity Eichler both had five points for the Pilots.

In the consolation game, Continental defeated Hilltop 64-46 to finish in third place. It was the Lady Pirates first win of the season.

Hilltop had a 13-11 lead after the opening quarter before the Pirates took control of the game in the middle two quarters. Continental grabbed a 29-17 halftime lead with an 18-4 second quarter scoring run, then added to their lead with a 17-10 third quarter scoring advantage.

Amber Logan led the Pirates with a game high 25 points and Addyson Armey had 12 points.

Audrey Funkhouser had 19 points to lead the Cadets.
