LEIPSIC - Leipsic used a big first half Friday night to defeat Cory-Rawson 68-24 in the Blanchard Valley Conference opener for both teams.

The Vikings (1-1) had a 14-8 lead after the opening quarter before outscoring the Hornets 21-5 in the second quarter for a 35-13 halftime lead.
Jordan Brown had 16 points and six rebounds to lead the Vikings, while Zach Kuhlman had 14 points and Neil Haselman added 13 points. Kuhlman and Haselman both had four steals. Gavin Cupp grabbed six rebounds in the win.
Matt Alspach had 13 points for the Vikings.
Leipsic won the junior varsity contest 60-16.

Ottoville 57

VAN WERT - Van Wert survived a fourth quarter rally by Ottoville to post a 60-57 non-league win.
The Big Green trailed 40-37 entering the fourth quarter, but were able to outscore the Cougars 23-20 to make things interesting. Van Wert's final 11 points came at the free throw line as they were 16-of-30 at the line for the game. Connor Holliday was 6-of-10 at the line in the fourth quarter. Michael Smelser was 4-of-6 at the line in the quarter.
Smelser led the Cougars with 20 points and Holliday had 18 points. Nathan Stoller added 10 points in the win.
Luke Schimmoeller led the Big Green (1-1) with 26 points, 13 of them coming in the fourth quarter. Tyler Roby added 18 points and Brandt Landin had 13 points.

Fort Jennings 51

FORT JENNINGS - Tinora outscored Fort Jennings in the fourth quarter to post a 51-50 non-league win.
The Musketeers had a 39-38 lead going to the fourth quarter before the Rams outscored them 13-11 for the win.
Nick Von Sossan had a career night for the Musketeers with a game high 33 points as he had three three-pointers in the game and 13 made field goals.

Ayersville 30

AYERSVILLE - Miller City was held to five points in the fourth quarter Friday night in a 50-30 win over Ayersville in non-league action.
Neither the Wildcats or Pilots could find their offense in the fourth quarter as a total of nine points were scored. Miller City (2-1) outscored the Pilots 5-4 in the final quarter for the win.
Miller City opened the game with an 18-7 scoring margin for the early lead.
Jackson Lammers had 15 points for the Wildcats and Cory Heuerman had nine. Adam Niese had seven points and seven rebounds.
