Local athletes place in second day of state track meet

COLUMBUS - Putnam County track athletes continued making trips to the awards stand at the Division III state track and field meet at Jesse Owens Stadium Saturday morning.Graham, a senior, finished fourth in the 3200-meter run with a time of 9:29.84. Graham's time was a new school record at Columbus Grove. Kyle Polman, Independence, won the 3200-meter run in a state record time of 9:12.01.

Fort Jennings 800 and 1600-meter relay teams both placed at the state meet on Saturday.
The Musketeers' 800 Relay team of Emily Grone, Lori Bruskotter, Kaitlin Stechschulte and Macy Schroeder finished fifth in a time of 1:46.28. In the 1600-meter relay, the foursome of Stechschulte, Elaina Maag, Bruskotter and Schroeder were sixth in 4:03.69.
Continental's Paige Ordway made a trip to the awards podium in the 300 low hurdles as she finished fifth in 45.90.
The Columbus Grove girls made two trips to the award stand Saturday morning in the 100 hurdles and 400 Relay.
Sophomore Sydney McClure finished eighth in the 100 hurdles in 15.95 and later she teamed with Raiya Flores, Julia Wynn and Jessi Smith for an eighth place in the 400 Relay in 50.81.
Derek Rieman finished eighth in the 300 hurdles with a time of 40.44.
