OTTAWA - Ottawa-Glandorf's TJ Metzger and Kalida's Summer Holtkamp were key figures in their soccer teams having very successful seasons.

That is why the two senior standouts picked up first team all-Ohio honors last week from the Ohio Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association.
Metzger was a first team selection in Division II, while Holtkamp was a first team selection in Division III.
Metzger, a midfielder, helped the Titans to a 19-2 overall record as well as a share of the Western Buckeye League title and the Titans second straight trip to the regional finals. Metzger scored 14 goals for the Titans this season and had seven assists.
Holtkamp, a senior forward, helped Kalida achieve their best season ever as she was the teams leading scorer with 26 goals and 14 assists. Kalida had their best season ever in girls soccer as they finished the regular season 15-0-1, which included the Putnam County League title, and the squads first appearance in the Division III regional tournament. The Lady Wildcats advanced to the regional finals before losing to Ontario, who eventually played for a state championship in Division III.
Four more county players were recognized with second team all-Ohio honors.
Kalida senior Ryan Erhart was a second team selection in the Division III boys listings. Erhart played defense for the Wildcats.
In the girls Division III balloting, Fort Jennings' Macy Schroeder, Kalida's Kaylyn Verhoff and Continental's Leva Weller were second team selections.
Schroeder, a senior forward, had 10 goals and five assists for the Musketeers this past season. In her career she had 51 goals and 20 assists.
Verhoff, a senior defender, helped the Wildcats post 16 shutouts this season using her speed to deny opponents attacks. She also scored two goals for Kalida this season.
Weller, a senior goalie, posted eight shutouts in goal for the Pirates as she allowed 15 goals in 17 matches as she had a goals against average of .88. She also came out of goal this season to score a goal and dish out two assists.
