KALIDA - The Miller City and Lima Central Catholic boys soccer teams took their district semi-final contest to the limits Tuesday night in Kalida.

After playing to a tie in regulation and no one being able to score in the two overtime periods, the two squads went to penalty kicks. In the penalty kick phase, the T-Birds outscored the Wildcats 4-2 to claim a 2-1 win.
The win sends LCC (15-3-1) to the district semi-finals Saturday at 3 p.m. against Kalida. The Wildcats advanced with a 3-0 win over New Knoxville in the first district semi-final Tuesday. Miller City saw its season end at 9-7-3.
Mick Lammers gave Miller City a 1-0 lead with 29:33 left when he netted a goal off an assist from Jared Snyder. The T-Birds tied the contest when Matt McNamara scored with 16:32 left as Sean Daley had the assist.
Regulation ended in a 1-1 tie and in the two 15 minute overtime periods neither team was able to score sending the contest to a shootout.
In the shootout, the T-Birds outscored the Wildcats 4-2. Scoring for LCC in the shootout was Zach Schroeder, Daley, McNamara and Ryan Recker. Trent Niese and Drew Recker scored for the Wildcats.
Ben Stechschulte had six saves in goal for LCC, while Hunter Berner had 13 saves for the Wildcats.
