MILLER CITY — Miller City moved closer to winning the Putnam County League baseball title Friday evening as they defeated Kalida 6-1 in league action.

The win moves Miller City t5-0 in the PCL and 9-3 overall. The WIldcats play Ottoville Tuesday and have a makeup game with Continental to schedule. Kalida dropped to 4-2 in the league and 6-12 overall.

Miller City scored a run in the first inning, then added three runs in the second inning for a 4-0 lead. The Wildcats added solo runs in the third and fourth innings for a 6-0 lead. Kalida scored their lone run in the sixth inning.

Ross Lehman (5-1) picked up the win for Miller City as he allowed one run on five hits with four strikeouts and two walks.

Jackson Lammers and Adam Niese both had a single and double for Miller City and Jeremy Balbaugh had a double. Adam Drummelsmith had two singles for the Wildcats.

Colton Farrell took the loss for Kalida as he went 2 2/3 innings allowing five runs on seven hits. Brady Laudick finished the game allowing one run on two hits with six strikeouts.

Brent Hovest had a double and single for Kalida and Farrell a double.

 

Columbus Grove 6

Pandora-Gilboa 2

COLUMBUS GROVE — Columbus Grove won for the fourth time in Putnam County League play Friday as they downed Pandora-Gilboa 6-2.

The Bulldogs moved to 4-2 in the league and 10-10 overall, while P-G slipped to 2-3 in the league and 7-8 overall.

Columbus Grove took the lead in the third inning with two runs and they scored three times in the fourth inning for a 5-0 lead. The Bulldogs closed out their scoring with a run in the fifth inning.

P-G scored both of their runs in the sixth inning.

Josh Verhoff picked up the win for Columbus Grove as he went 5 2/3 innings as he allowed two runs on five hits with seven strikeouts. Elisha Jones finished the game.

Mason Smith had two hits and two RBIs for the Bulldogs and Jones had a hit and two RBIs. Josh Verhoff had three hits and an RBI and Riley Brubaker a hit and RBI.

Brian Schneck took the loss for P-G as he went 3 1/3 innings allowing five runs on seven hits with four strikeouts. Seth Schmenk and Jacob Basinger worked in relief.

Basinger had two hits for the Rockets.

 

Patrick Henry 11

LEIPSIC — Patrick Henry scored seven times in the fourth inning on their way to a 11-1 non-league win over Leipsic Friday.

The Patriots had a 4-1 lead before scoring seven times in the fourth inning.

Logan Ziegler picked up the win for Patrick Henry (14-6) as he went three innings. Kyler Seemann worked two innings in relief.

Derek Hoops had three hits and two RBIs for Patrick Henry and Joey Nickels had two hits and three RBIs. Seemann had three hits and an RBI and Derek Kolpien had two hits.

Pierce Henry took the loss for Leipsic as he went 2 1/3 innings

 

Fort Jennings 6

Ottoville 5

FORT JENNINGS — Fort Jennings scored a run in the bottom of the seventh inning Friday evening for a 6-5 Putnam County League win over rival Ottoville.

The Musketeers had a 3-0 lead before both teams scored two runs in the third inning. The Big Green scored twice in the fourth inning, then tied the game with a run in the top of the seventh.

Ryan Rau picked up the win for the Musketeers as he went the distance allowing five runs on 10 hits with 10 strikeouts.

Connor Wallenhorst had four hits and two RBIs for the Musketeers. Dylan VanLo0 had two hits, Rau two hits and an RBI, while Ryan Hoersten and Alex Sealts both had two hits.

Alex Horstman took the loss for Ottoville.

Brandon Boecker had two hits and two RBIs for the Big Green. Luke Schimmoeller had two hits for Ottoville.
