TIFFIN —Columbus Grove's Sydney McCluer and Julia Wynn along with Continental's Paige Ordway will be a little busy next Friday.

The three Putnam County standout track athletes advanced in three events each from the Division III regional at Tiffin to the Division III state meet next Friday and Saturday at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium in Columbus. The 3200 relay opens the Division III state meet at 9:30 a.m. Friday followed by the running semi-finals. The field events are in the afternoon.

McCluer picked up the Lady Bulldogs lone regional championship as she won the 100 intermediate hurdles. McCluer won the event with a time of 15.71 as Toledo Christian’s Darian Westmeyer was second in 16.03.

McCluer then teamed with Raiya Flores, Julia Wynn and Linnea Stephens to finish fourth in the 4x100 relay in 50.04 and with Kristin Wynn, Flores and Julia Wynn to finish fourth in the 4x400 relay in 4:06.36. McCluer was nearly a four event qualifier as she just missed advancing in the 300 hurdles as she finished fifth in 46.21.

The Bulldogs 4x200 relay team of Flores, Kristin Wynn, Stephens and Julia Wynn qualified for state with a fourth place finish in 1:46.73.

Megan Verhoff advanced to the state meet Friday as she finished second in the discus with a throw of 135-3.

Ordway qualified for state in both hurdle events and the long jump Friday.

Ordway finished third in the 100 hurdles in 16.05 and she was second in the 300 hurdles in 46.21. Evergreen's Carly Truckor won the 300 hurdles in 45.99.

In the long jump, Ordway qualified for state as she finished third with a jump of 16-4.

Leipsic’s Holly Averesch captured a regional championship in winning the discus. Averesch won the discus with a throw of 147-5.

Pandora-Gilboa's Breana Hovest qualified for state in the 3200 meter run as she finished fourth in 11:58.46. Teammate Olivia Velasquez was right behind her in fifth place in 12:02.19. The two runners finished sixth and seventh in the 1600 meter run.

The lone Bulldog male to advance Friday evening was junior Bryce Sharrits. Sharrits finished third in the 800 meter run in 1:58.57. Sharrits will be competing in two events at state as he was part of the 3200 meter relay team that finished second on Thursday afternoon.

Leipsic's Terrill Murriel qualified for state in the 110 hurdles as he finished fourth in 15.33.
