BATh TWP - The last time the Ottawa-Glandorf boys track won a Western Buckeye League championship Titan coach Rick Hughes was a junior in high school. That was 35 seasons ago.
And after a string of three straight runner-up showings at the WBL tournament, the Titans moved into the top spot Friday night unseating defending WBL champion Van Wert.
The Titans claimed the WBL championship as they outscored Van Wert 103-94.
On the girls side, the Lady Titans finished second to Celina 116-79. Shawnee was third with 73 points.
O-G's balance was key at the WBL as they won just four events at the two day meet. The Titans won the 3200 Relay behind the efforts of Colt Haselman, Brad Recker, Matias Trampe-Kindt and Jacob Leopold. Collin Laubenthal won the pole vault, Eric Beckman the long jump and Nate Toumazes the 400.
The Lady Titans did not win an event, but used their balance and runner-up finishes to challenge the Bulldogs for their league title.
