LIMA — Ottawa-Glandorf's three singles players placed at the Western Buckeye League tournament on Saturday at the UNOH Courts in Lima.
Alex Schroeder and John Schroeder both finished second in the two-day tournament, while Brandon Hempfling finished third.
Alex Schroeder, the defending champion at first singles and the second seed, advanced to the championship match with a 5-7, 7-6 (7-2), 6- 1 win over Van Wert's Lane Mansfield in the semi-finals Saturday morning. In the championship match, Schroeder faced Shawnee senior Jason Barton, the top seed, and dropped a three set decision to the Shawnee player, 6-2, 0-6, 6-0.
At third singles, John Schroeder, the second seed, advanced to the championship match as he defeated St. Marys' Justin Nedderman in three sets 2-6, 6-3, 6-1. In the championship match, Schroeder faced Shawnee's Ruthvik Avvari, the top seed, and dropped a 6-2, 6-1 decision.
At second singles, the Titans' Brandon Hempfling, the fourth seed, lost his semi-final match to Celina's Alex Seibel, the top seed, 6-0, 6-0 in the semi-finals. In the third place match Hemplfing, a junior, defeated Kenton's Jake Abbott, the third seed, 6-2, 6-1.
As a team, the Titans finished third in the tournament with 32 points. Combined with their third place finish in the regular season, O-G finished third overall. Celina and Shawnee shared the WBL championship as the Bulldogs won the regular season and the Indians the tournament.
