COLUMBUS - One gold and one silver state trophy is coming back to Putnam Count after the boys state championship games were contested Saturday at the Schottenstein Center.
Ottawa-Glandorf brought home the gold trophy as they beat Versailles 67-46 in the Division III state championship game Saturday morning. The championship was the third in school history and their third state title in the last 10 years as they won titles in 2004 (Div. II) and 2008 (Div. III). The Titans T.J. Metzger had a big day for the Titans tying two state records, one for three-pointers in a game (9) and for points scored (36).
Leipsic came up short in their bid for a Division IV state title as they fell to Cleveland Villa Angela-St. Joseph 87-63. Devin Mangas led the Vikings with 18 points.
The runner-up trophy is the first such trophy for the Vikings. The team is scheduled to return to Putnam County today at 2 p.m.
