LIMA - The Fighting 63rd and Lima Legion each put runners in scoring position on Friday, but Ottawa capitalized on more RBI opportunities, pulling out a 5-1 win at Joe Bowers Field.


Lima Legion out-hit Ottawa American Legion Fighting 63rd eight to six, but Lima stranded 12 runners on base.

Tanner Schimmoeller had a hot bat for The Fighting 63rd . Scimmoeller went 3 for 4, drove in one run and scored two runs. He singled in the third, fifth, and eighth innings.

Jaylen Von Sossan shut down Lima Legion while he was on the rubber. Lima Legion managed just one hit off of Von Sossan, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out two during his 2 2/3 innings of work.

Clay Grubb got it done on the hill on the way to a win. He allowed one run over 6 1/3 innings. Clay struck out four, walked four and gave up seven hits.

In the second inning, Lima Legion pushed across its only run of the day on a groundout.

Ottawa never surrendered the lead after the fifth inning, scoring two runs on an error and an RBI single by Cory Imm.

Ottawa is now 11-7 on the season. Post 63 is back in action Sunday as they host Piqua in a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. at Memorial Field.
