OTTOVILLE - Ottoville turned up its defensive pressure in the fourth quarter Friday night to post a 37-28 Putnam County League win over Continental at the L.W. Heckman Gymnasium.

The Big Green (3-3, 8-11) had a 27-26 lead going to the fourth quarter before Ottoville held the Pirates to just two points in the fourth quarter to pull away for the win. Ottoville outscored the Pirates 10-2 in the final quarter as Luke Schimmoeller had four points for the Big Green, while Derek Schimmoeller and Ryan Honigford hit three-pointers. Chaz Slattman had the lone points for Continental in the quarter.

Continental had a 14-9 lead after the opening quarter, but saw Ottoville outscore them 8-3 in the second quarter to forge a 17-17 halftime tie.

Ryan Honigford had 10 points to lead the Big Green, while Derek Schimmoeller had eight points and Brandt Landin had seven points. Austin Honigford pulled down seven rebounds for Ottoville.

Slattman paced the Pirates (0-5, 5-14) with 13 points and Tyler Dockery added eight points. Slattman had five rebounds in the game.

Continental won the two quarter junior varsity game 25-22.

Miller City 60

KALIDA - Kalida rallied in the second half Friday night to defeat Miller City 61-60 in Putnam County League action Friday night.

Kalida is 4-2 in the PCL and 6-11 overall, while Miller City dropped to 4-2 in the league and 14-5 overall.

Miller City had a 37-26 halftime lead after jumping out to a 22-14 first quarter lead at Kalida. Kalida began their comeback with a 17-13 third quarter scoring advantage before the home Wildcats outscored Miller City 18-10 in the fourth quarter to post the win.

Adam Langhals led four Kalida players in double digits with 16 points. Cody Mathew added 14 points, Austin Horstman had 13 points and Devin Kortokrax finished with 10 points.

Adam Niese had 17 points for Miller City and Austin Lammers finished with 11 points.

Kalida won the junior varsity game 38-20.
