Ottoville defeats Fort Jennings at buzzer

OTTOVILLE - Luke Schimmoeller hit a shot at the buzzer Tuesday night to give the Big Green a 29-28 Putnam County League win over Fort Jennings.Down 28-27 with time running out, Luke Schimmoeller drove into the lane and hit a jumper as the buzzer sounded to give the Big Green their second PCL win of the season.
The fourth quarter was back and forth during this defensive struggle.
The Musketeers took a 18-18 lead to the final quarter before Ottoville went up 22-19 on baskets by Ryan Honigford and Brandt Landin. Ft. Jennings rallied to take a 24-22 lead on an Austin Kehres basket and a three-pointer by Nick Von Sossan.
Ottoville tied the game on two free throws by Luke Schimmoeller before Von Sossan gave the Musketeers the lead with a putback. Tyler Roby returned the lead to Ottoville with his third three-pointer of the game.
Inside the final 30 seconds the two teams traded turnovers with Ft. Jennings turning an Ottoville turnover into a 28-27 lead as Kurt Warnecke scored on a layup.
The Big Green worked the clock looking for a shot as Ft. Jennings hampered their efforts by using the two fouls they had to give before putting the Big Green at the line. After an Ottovile timeout, the Big Green got the ball to Schimmoeller who drove into the lane and scored.
Roby led the Big Green (2-3, 7-11) with nine points and Schimmoeller finished with eight.
Von Sossan and Warnecke both had eight points for the Musketeers (1-4, 4-14).

Lima Perry 55
MILLER CITY - Miller City jumped out to an early lead Tuesday night and never let up in handing Lima Perry a 72-55 non-league setback.
The Wildcats (14-4) had an 18-11 lead after the opening quarter and were up 34-22 at halftime. Perry (6-11) trimmed the Wildcat lead to 11 points after three quarters before Miller City regrouped and outscored the Commodores 21-15 in the fourth quarter.
Ross Kaufman led the Wildcats with 20 points and Adam Niese had 14. Austin Lammers had a double-double for the Wildcats with 12 points and 13 rebounds. Kaufman had seven asists in the win.
Miller City won the junior varsity game 54-28.
