Ottoville girls claim share of PCL title

FORT JENNINGS - Ottoville's girls basketball team clinched at-least a share of the 2012-13 Putnam County League title with a 64-25 win over Fort Jennings Thursday night at The Fort.
The win moves the top ranked Big Green, Division IV, to 6-0 in the league and 16-0 overall. The title share would be the fourth straight PCL title the Big Green have won. Ottoville could claim an outright PCL title on February 2 when they host Leipsic. Fort Jennings is 1-5 in the league and 7-11 overall.
Ottoville wasted little time Thursday night in getting the title share. Behind two three-pointers from Taylor Mangas and four points from Abby Siefker the Big Green scored the first 14 points of the game. Rachel Beining and Rachel Turnwald added baskets to Ottoville's quick start before Ashley Gable finally got the Musketeers on the scoreboard with a three-pointer midway through the quarter.
A three-pointer by Turnwald and two baskets by Siefker gave the Big Green a 21-3 lead after eight minutes of action.
Ottoville continued to pull away from the Musketeers in the second quarter with an 18-4 scoring advantage. Beining had eight points in the quarter for the Big Green, while Mangas hit another three-pointer as she had five points in the quarter. Turnwald added a three point play and Siefker had a basket. Emily Kehres and Macy Schroeder had the Musketeer points in the quarter.
The Big Green had an excellent shooting night as they hit 26-of-42 field goal attempts for 62 percent. Ottoville hit 21-of-31 two-point attempts in the game, while the Musketeers were 9-of-43 shooting for the game.
Beining led the Big Green with 18 points and Siefker added 17 points. Mangas chipped in 14 points as she hit four three-pointers in the game.
Schroeder led the Musketeers with 12 points as she hit two three-pointers.
Ottoville won the junior varsity game 31-20.
