Ottoville girls roll past Pirates

OTTOVILLE - Ottoville was strong in the middle two quarters Thursday night as the Big Green rolled to a 69-37 Putnam County League win over Continental.The win moved the top ranked Big Green (Division IV) to 3-0 in the PCL and 12-0 overall, while Continental suffered their first league loss in falling to 2-1 in the PCL and 9-3 overall.
Ottoville had a 17-12 lead after the opening quarter before breaking the game open in the middle two quarters. Rachel Beining had eight first quarter points for the Big Green, while Sloane Zachrich and Paige Ordway both had four points for the Pirates.
The Lady Green extended their lead in the second quarter with a 21-5 scoring run. Abby Siefker led Ottoville's second quarter assault with seven points and Taylor Mangas added five points. Rachel Turnwald hit a three-pointer as six Ottoville players scored in the quarter. Taylor Williamson had a three-pointer for the Pirates in the quarter.
Ottoville continued to pull away in the third quarter with an 18-9 scoring run. Siefker and Turnwald both had seven points in the quarter for the Big Green and Beining added four points as just three Big Green players scored in the quarter. Williamson had five points for the Pirates in the quarter.
Siefker led the Big Green with 19 points and Beining finished with 18 points. Turnwald added 13 points.
Ordway was the lone Pirate in double digits with 15 points, nine of them coming in the fourth quarter.
Ottoville won the junior varsity game 32-7.
