OTTOVILLE — An Ottoville rally came up a run short Friday afternoon as the Big Green dropped a 10-9 non-league baseball decision to Delphos St. John's.

The Big Green (0-6) trailed the Blue Jays 10-5 after St. John's scored four times in the fourth inning and three times in the fifth to overcome a 5-3 deficit. Ottoville put together a rally as they scored once in the fifth and three times in the sixth to pull within a run. Neither team scored in the seventh inning.

Andy Schimmoeller was tagged with the loss for Ottoville as he went the final four innings allowing seven runs on five hits with four strikeouts and five walks. Zane Martin started and went three innings allowing three runs, one earned, on two hits with six strikeouts and two walks.

Troy Warnecke had two singles and drove in four runs for the Big Green, while Brad Boecker had a single and drove in two runs. Clayton Schnipke had three singles in the game and Schimmoeller had two singles. Jaden Schnipke had two singles and an RBI.

Ottoville banged out 11 hits in the setback, all singles.
