KALIDA — Kalida’s Owen Recker turned in another strong performance on the mound Monday as the Wildcats topped Continental 4-1 in Putnam County League action.

After throwing a one hitter last Thursday at Fort Jennings, Recker was dominant on the mound as he not only threw another one hitter, but struck out 19 Continental batters in moving to 3-2 on the season. The one run he gave up was unearned. He did walked two Pirate batters in the game.

Continental scored its lone run in the fourth inning as they took a 1-0 lead on a Jacob Williams single.

That lead stood up until the bottom of the sixth when Kalida scored four times for the win. Jeffrey Knueve had an RBI single in the inning for the Wildcats (3-0, 6-5) and Josh Klausing plated a run with an RBI groundout. Owen Recker forced home a run with a bases loaded walk and the final run scored on a wild pitch.

Kevin Hamburg had two singles for the Wildcats and Derek Buss had a double.

Brady Dockery took the loss for Continental (0-3, 1-6) as he went the distance allowing four runs, two earned, on four hits. He had four strikeouts and walked four.

Miller City 2

GLANDORF — Ottawa-Glandorf broke up a pitchers duel with Miller City Monday evening with a five run sixth inning on their way to a 5-2 non-league win.

The Titans’ Austin Horstman and the Wildcats Kelvin Stechschulte hooked up in the pitchers duel until the bottom of the sixth when O-G finally got to Stechschulte for five runs.

In the Titan sixth, Grant Fuerst had a bases loaded double that scored two runs and Evan Balash had an RBI single. A Miller City error and a groundout by Mike Bowers accounted for the other two runs.

Miller City got to Horstman in the seventh inning for two runs on a single by Corbin Niese.

Horstman (2-0) picked up the win as he allowed two runs on two hits with seven strikeouts and three walks.

Balash had two hits and an RBI and Logan Balbaugh had two hits for the Titans (11-2).

Stechschulte took the loss for Miller City (6-2) as he allowed five runs, four earned, on eight hits with two strikeouts and four walks. Jacob Schimmoeller worked two-thirds of an inning in relief.

Bryce Riepenhoff had the Wildcats second hit.

ANTWERP — Fort Jennings used the big inning to defeat Antwerp 20-6 in non-league action Monday.

The Musketeers scored four runs in each of the fourth and fifth innings before pushing across nine runs in the seventh inning. The Archers responded with three runs in the bottom of the seventh.

Austin Luebrecht picked up the win for Ft. Jennings as he worked four rinnings allowing two runs on three hits.

Brandon Wehri went 4 for 5 for the Musketeers with five runs batted in and he scored four times. Aaron Sealts had two hits and drove in three runs, Sam Vetter had two hits and drove in two runs and Logan Hardeman had a double and plated two runs. Derek Luersman drove in three runs in the game and Connor Stechschulte had a double and an RBI.

Keaton Altimus took the loss for the Archers.

PANDORA —Arcadia outlasted Pandora-Gilboa in a marathon Blanchard Valley Conference baseball game Monday 21-20.

The contest took three hours to play featuring 41 runs and 42 hits. The two teams combined to leave 20 runners on base in the game.

Arcadia scored 11 times in the fourth inning to overcome an 11-4 P-G lead, then held off a seventh inning rally by the Rockets to escape with the one run win. P-G had the tying run on base after scoring once in the seventh inning.

The Rockets had an 11-4 lead after three innings as they scored eight times in the third inning.

Eli Palmer had four hits and drove in four runs for the Redskins and Tristan Matinez had two doubles, three singles and he drove in three runs. Alex Pessell had three hits and drove in three runs and Matt Hill had two hits and drove in three runs. Hayden Rader had three hits and two RBIs.

Chase Huffman took the loss for the Rockets as he went 3 1/3 innings. Ryan Lee worked 3 2/3 innings.

Ryan Lee had two doubles, two singles and drove in two runs for P-G and Carter Nofziger had two doubles, a triple and drove in four runs. Jason Walther had two singles, a double and plated three runs. Gunner Stall had two singles, a double and drove in two, while Josh Shartell had two hits and drove in two runs. Drew Johnson had a triple for P-G and Huffman a double.

LEIPSIC — Leipsic scored at least a run in every inning they batted Monday in recording a 10-5 Blanchard Valley Conference win from Arlington.

The Vikings scored single runs in four of their six at-bats, while putting up two runs in the second inning and scoring four times in the fifth. The Red Devils scored four of their five runs in the second inning.

Cole Rieman picked up the win for Leipsic and had two hits in the game. Dylan Schroeder had three hits for the Vikings (4-1, 7-4), while Jordan Berger and Grant Rader both had a single and double.

Logan Speyer had two doubles for the Red Devils (1-3, 2-5).
