Third quarter sparks Lady Musketeers

FORT JENNINGS - Up by a point at halftime, Fort Jennings outscored Miller City in the third quarter on their way to a 45-40 non-league win.The Musketeers (6-7) had a 21-20 halftime lead before using a 10-6 scoring run in the third quarter for a 31-26 lead. Both teams scored 14 points in the final quarter.
Ashley Gable led the Musketeers with 12 points and Macy Schroeder added nine points.
Brandi Gerschutz and Melissa Michel both had 10 points for the Wildcats (2-11). Michel also pulled down 20 rebounds in the game. The 20 rebounds give her 733 for her career at Miller City as she passed the previous record Tuesday night against Delphos Jefferson when she pulled down 14 rebounds.
Fort Jennings won the junior varsity game 37-25.
Hardin Northern 18
DOLA - Pandora-Gilboa turned in a solid effort Thursday evening as the Rockets topped Hardin Northern 59-18 in Blanchard Valley Conference action.
The Rockets grabbed a 14-4 first quarter lead and were up 23-9 at the break before going on a 22-6 run in the third quarter to put the game out of reach.
Megan Maag led the Rockets with 23 points and Keri Conine finished with 18 points.
Kylee Hooker had seven points for the Polar Bears (0-5, 1-12).
P-G won the junior varsity game 42-16.
Columbus Grove 54
PAULDING - Columbus Grove overcame an early deficit Thursday night to defeat Paulding 54-39 in Northwest Conference action.
The Bulldogs (1-3, 2-10) trailed 15-10 after the opening quarter before using a 17-9 run in the second quarter for a 27-24 halftime lead. A 27-15 scoring margin in the second half gave Columbus Grove their first NWC win of the season.
Rachel Schumacher led the Bulldogs with 11 points and Sammi Stechschulte had 10 points. Megan Verhoff had a double-double for the Bulldogs with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Stechschulte and Renee Karhoff both had six rebounds for Grove, who owned a 34-17 edge in rebounds.
Pease had 10 points for the Panthers.
Columbus Grove won the junior varsity game.
DEFIANCE - Ottawa-Glandorf used a big third quarter Thursday night to defeat Defiance 61-39 in Western Buckeye League action.
The Titans (2-2, 7-5) had a 26-22 halftime lead before outscoring the host Bulldogs 17-2 in the third quarter to break the game open.
Stephanie Hempfling had a big night for the Titans with 16 points as she hit three three-pointers in the game. Dani Ellerbrock and Elissa Ellerbrock both finished with nine points for O-G.
Emily Spencer led the Bulldogs (0-4, 0-11) with 13 points and Gabi Lamb finished with 11.
Ottawa-Glandorf won the junior varsity game 43-22.
The Titans are back in action Saturday as they host Delphos St. John's.
LEIPSIC - Liberty-Benton dealt Leipsic's Blanchard Valley Conference hopes a blow Thursday evening with a 51-41 win.
Both teams entered the game tied for the conference lead with one loss. Leipsic is now 3-2 in the BVC and the Eagles are 4-1.
A 20-4 second quarter scoring run by the Eagles put them in control of the game.
Katie Simon had 16 points for the Eagles and Rachel Myers added 13 points.
Amber Gerdeman led the Vikings (7-5) with 20 points.
