Three Bulldog wrestlers still going

TROY — Three Columbus Grove wrestlers will be in action Saturday trying to nail down a spot in next weeks Division III state tournament.
Columbus Grove's Brett Sampson, Alec Gladwell and Will Selhorst all will be in action Saturday at the Division III district tournament in Troy. All three wrestlers will be competing in the consolation brackets of their respective weight classes after suffering a loss Friday night.
Sampson will be competing in the 126 pound weight class Saturday. Sampson stayed alive in the district tournament as he pinned Brycen Gott of Clermont NE in 4:04 of his consolation match Friday night. Sampson lost his opening round match Friday night to Matt Mangen of Versailles 15-4.
Gladwell (170) won his opening round match as he beat Jonathan Carr of Dayton Christian 6-1. In the quarter finals, Gladwell dropped a 10-1 decision to Zach Sullivan of National Trail.
At 182 pounds, Selhorst topped Josh Fortkner of Clermont NE 5-3 before dropping his second round match to Armani Robinson of Greenview by a pin in 54 seconds.
At 106 pounds, the Bulldogs Preston Brubaker saw his season end as he pinned by Damon Miller of Versailles in the first consolation round in 4:35. At 152 pounds, Grove's Tyler Schroeder fell to Blanchester's Robert Huston by a pin in 2:47.
Wrestling resumes at 10 a.m. Saturday.
