Three O-G pitchers combine for a shutout

GLANDORF - Three Ottawa-Glandorf pitchers combined on a shutout Tuesday afternoon as the Titans blanked Ottoville 8-0 in non-league action.
Matt Warnecke picked up the win for the Titans as he worked four scoreless innings as he gave up two hits and struckout four. Jaylen Von Sossan worked two scoreless innings and Tyson Yungman worked a scoreless seventh striking out three.
The Titans took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning for the only runs they would need.
Tyler Zender had a double and two RBI for O-G, while Ben Deitering had a double and single. Brad Croy had a pair of singles.
Joel Beining took the loss for Ottoville as he worked four innings. He also had double in the game for the Big Green.

Columbus Grove 12
COLUMBUS GROVE - Columbus Grove scored nine times in the first inning Tuesday as the Bulldogs topped Elida 12-2 in their season opener.
Grove came out swinging as they sent 13 batters to the plate in the first inning to score nine times. Brandon Benroth belted a three run home run in the first inning and Matt Jay had a two run double.
Josh Verhoff picked up the win for Grove as he went four innings allowing two runs on five hits. Trey Roney worked a scoreless inning.
Benroth had two hits and three RBI for Columbus Grove and Jay had two hits and three RBI.

Miller City 12
MILLER CITY - Ross Lehman and Jared Fuka both drove in three runs Tuesday afternoon as Miller City topped Continental 12-2 in five innings.
Lehman had a double and three RBI for the Wildcats, while Fuka had a single to go with his three RBI. Adam Niese had two singles for Miller City.
Lehman picked up the win for the Wildcats as he went four innings allowing two runs on three hits with four strikeouts. Adam Drummelsmith worked an inning in relief.
Tyler Dockery III took the loss for the Pirates as he lasted one inning. Five different hurlers worked in the game for the Pirates (0-2).

PANDORA - Pandora-Gilboa came out swinging in the cold tempeeratures Monday afternoon as the Rockets defeated Ridgemont 10-4 in non-league action.
The Rockets (1-1) scored in every inning they batted as they opened the game with three runs in the first inning and scored three times in the sixth inning. In every inning between they scored at-least one run. The Gophers scored all four of their runs in the sixth inning.
Abe Basinger (1-0) picked up the win for P-G as he went five innings allowing four runs on five hits with seven strikeouts and four walks.
Jacob Basinger had a single and double for the Rockets with two RBI and Brian Schneck had a double and RBI. Basinger and Jarod Triplehorn both had a hit and two RBI.

Fort Jennings 11
ELIDA - Fort jennings held off an Elida rally Monday to post an 11-10 non-league baseball win.
The Musketeers were up 11-6 before the Bulldogs rallied with three runs in the sixth inning and one in the seventh.
Six runs in the fifth inning and two in the sixth gave the Musketeers (3-0) the lead.
Petey VanLoo picked up the win for the Musketeers.
Mark Metzger and Kurt Warnecke both had a double, two singles and an RBI for the Musketeers. Alex Vetter had two singles and an RBI for Ft. Jennings.
Jake Porter took the loss for the Bulldogs. David Diller had a pair of doubles for Elida and Josh Carder had a double.

CONTINENTAL - Wayne Trace built an early lead in defeating Continental 11-6 in the season opener for bothteams.
The Raiders scored five times in the second inning and added a run in the third inning. A three run fourth inning and one in the fifth had the Raiders up 10-0 before the Pirates (0-1) scored five times in the bottom of the fifth.
Cade Harvey picked up the win for Wayne Trace as he went 4 1/3 innings allowing five runs on six hits with five strikeouts and three walks. Colby Speice finished the game allowing a run on one hit with three strikeouts and three walks.
Speice had a single and double for the Piraes and Broc Forrer had a triple.
Luke Sullivan worked two innings allowing five runs on three hits with two strikeouts and three walks.
Gabe Williams had two singles for the Pirates and Saige DeLeon had a single and double.

Delphos Jefferson 10
DELPHOS -Delphos Jefferson used a big second inning Monday afternoon to defeat Kalida 10-6 in non-league action.
Jefferson is 2-1 on the season, while this was Kalida's season opener.
With the game tied 1-1 going to the bottom of the second, Delphos Jefferson erupted for five runs and the lead. Jefferson added to their lead with two runs in each of the fourth and fifth innings. Kalida attempted a comeback with a run in the fifth, three in the sixth and one in the seventh.
Tyler Rice picked up the win for Jefferson as he went 3 2/3 innings allowing an earned run wih six strikeouts and three walks.
Ross Thompson, Zach Ricker, Austin Jettinghoff and Tyler Wrasman all went 2 for 3 for Jefferson.
Kyle Kehres took the loss for Kalida as he worked three innings allowing six runs, three earned, on six hits with two strikeouts. Kyle Landin finished the game for Kalida allowing four runs on five hits with two strikeouts.
Brent Hovest had three hits for Kalida and Rob Kleman had a hit and two RBI. Neil Recker, Austin Swift and Kehres all had a hit and RBI.
Kalida was hurt by seven fielding errors in the game and they left 11 runners on base.
