Three Putnam County boys basketball teams punched their tickets Friday night to district tournament action this next week.
Columbus Grove, Leipsic and Ottawa-Glandorf all advanced with sectional final wins. Kalida and Ottoville bowed out of tournament play with losses in sectional final action.
In Division III action at Defiance High School Friday, the Titans, ranked sixth in Division III, had little trouble with Fairview in posting a 100-26 win. The win advances the Titans (20-3) to the Napoleon district Thursday at 6:15 p.m. against Evergreen.
O-G led 28-11 after the first quarter and never looked back. TJ Metzger buried seven three-pointers in the game as he led O-G with 23 points. Jaylen Von Sossan added 14 points and Noah Bramlage finished with 13 points.
At the Ottawa-Glandorf Division IV sectional, Columbus Grove and Leipsic advanced with wins.
The Bulldogs topped McComb 49-40 in the first game, while Leipsic raced past Cory-Rawson 82-45 in the second game. The Bulldogs advance to the Liberty-Benton district to face Vanlue at 8 p.m. Tuesday, while Leipsic faces Arlington at 6:15 p.m.
Columbus Grove held off a second half charge by McComb to post the win. Will Vorhees led the Bulldogs with 21 points.
In the second game, Leipsic had a 21-9 first quarter lead and were up 52-22 at the half in recording the win. Zach Kuhlman paced the Vikings with 18 points and Derek Steffan finished with 14.
At Paulding, Edgerton held off Kalida for a 37-34 win. The Bulldogs outscored the Wildcats 13-11 in the fourth quarter for the win. Austin Horstman led the Wildcats with nine points.
At Van Wert, Crestview overcame a stubborn Ottoville squad for a 48-36 win.
Crestview had a 26-22 halftime lead before outscoring the Big Green 14-2 in the third quarter to take control of the game.
Luke Schimmoeller had 12 points for the Big Green.
