Three local football players named first team all-district

COLUMBUS - Three Putnam County football players were first team all-district honors as the Northwest Ohio all-District teams were released by the Associated Press last week.
Ottawa-Glandorf had two first team standouts in Brad Racer and Tyler Zender in Division V, while Leipsic's Zach Kuhlman was a first team selection in Division VII.
The Titans Ben Recker was a second team selection in Division V.
Leipsic's Nate Brecht, Gavin Cupp and Jordan Chamberlin were second team selections in Division VII.
Racer, a senior, was first team selection as a defensive lineman. Racer was the Titans second leading tackler this season with 72, 45 solo. He had a sack and caused a fumble.
Zender, a senior, was named to the first team defense as a punter. Zender had a big year kicking for the Titans averaging 41.0 yards a kick. He punted 41 times with his longbeing a 65 yarder. He placed 17 kicks inside the 20 yard line.
Recker, a junior, was named to the second team defense as a lineman. Recker was O-G's third leading tackler this season with 55, 28 solo. He had three tackles for losses and he defended two passes with an interception from his end position.
O-G had four players named to the Honorable Mention list in Shane Schroeder, Sid Moening,:Zach Kuhlman and Jason Schnipke.
Wayne Trace quarterback Colby Speice was named the Division V Offensive Player of the Year, while Colt Pettit was named of the Defensive Player of the Year. Tinora's Austin Mahan was the Lineman of the Year and Colonel Crawford's Ryan Teglovic was the Coach of the Year.
Kuhlman was named to the first team offense in Division VII as a quarterback. Kuhlman, a senior, passed for 1,589 and 20 touchdowns. Kuhlman was 104-of-174 passing, 59.8 percent, as he threw just eight interceptions in the regular season. Kuhlman was a dual threat with his ability to run the ball.

Brecht, a sophomore, was named to the second team offense as a receiver. Brecht was the Vikings receiver with 809 yards on 47 catches and nine touchdowns. He averaged 17.2 yards a catch. He had 10 touchdowns on the season and 62 total points.
Chamberlin, a junior, was named to the second team as a running back. Chamberlin led the Vikings ground game this season with 1,233 yards on 208 carries. He scored 18 touchdowns as he averaged 5.8 ypc. He finished the season with 21 touchdowns and two two-point conversions for 130 points.
Cupp, a sophomore, was named to the second team as an offensive lineman. The 6-6 Cupp helped anchor a line that averaged 363.4 yards a game with 1,817 of that coming on the ground.
Named on the Honorable Mention list from Leipsic were Paul Gerdeman, Garet Bardall and Dylan Schey. On the list from P-G were Alex Osborn, Tyler Boes, T.J. Koepplinger, Garrett Gerdeman, Jacob Basinger and Jared Tosuley.
Columbus Grove's Joey Warnecke was named to the list.
Delphos St. John's Tyler Jettinghoff was named the Offensive Player of the Year in Division VII, while Marion Local's Jacob Kunkler was named the Defensive Player of the Year. Fremont St. Joseph's Corey Durbin was named the Lineman of the Year and Marion Local's Tim Goodwin was the Coach of the Year.
