OTTAWA - The Van Wert Cougars travelled to Owatta-Glandorf High School to take on the O-G Titans in baseball in the final game in the Western Buckeye League for both teams Thursday night.

Both the Cougars and Titans got double-digit hits, but O-G prevailed by a score of 9-5.
Van Wert struck first when Nathan Stoller doubled and came around to score on an error by the Titans to make it 1-0, Cougars. Later on in the frame Tyler Williams doubled home Ryan Stoller to make the score 2-0.
The Titans countered in the bottom of the frame when Jake Hashberger plated two runs with a double to tie the game at two. Two batters later, Drew Schierloh belted a two-run homer to give O-G a 4-2 lead.
The Titans got back-to-back walks to lead-off the bottom of the second inning from Jason Karhoff and Jaylen VonSossan, and both came around to score later in the frame after a Brad Croy RBI groundout and a Tyler Zender RBI single to push the O-G lead to 6-2.
Van Wert got a run back in the top of the third when Brant Henry and Ryan Stoller got base knocks. Henry scored on an RBI groundout by Andrew Todd to cut the Titan lead to 6-3.
The Cougars added another run in the top of the fourth when Nathan Stoller singled and Henry doubled him home to make the score 6-4.

With the bases loaded and two outs, Cody Bockrath hit a flare into right field which brought home two Titan base runners to increase O-G lead to 8-4 in the fourth frame.

The Titans got a lead-off homer from Zender to start the bottom of the sixth and extend the O-G lead to 9-4.

Van Wert got a run in the top of the seventh when Todd reached base on an error and came around to score on a Justice Tussing base hit to cut the O-G lead to 9-5, but that was all Van Wert could muster in the seventh.

"It was a good ball game. We got behind and came battling back and battling back, but we couldn't get over top. I give them a lot of credit they hit the ball really well tonight we gave them a little help with some walks. Defensively we didn't do too bad. Just a good high school baseball game they just outplayed us a little bit," said Van Wert coach Charlie Witten.

"Pretty much an offensive game today, both teams really light up the score boardand the hit column. We were fortunate enough to have scored more runs early in the game and just held on and made a few pitches to get us out of innings today. Overall it was tough, we came out of a tough a sectional game yesterday against Liberty Benton but I'm proud of the team," said O-G coach Nick Miller.
With the victory the Titans improve to 16-4 on the year and 5-4 in the WBL. The Cougars drop to 14-13 on the season and 4-5 in the WBL.
