WAPAKONETA — Ottawa-Glandorf kept trying different things to pull away from Wapakoneta.

Every time the Titans appeared ready to do that, the Redskins clawed their way back into the game. O-G finally was able to pull away from the stubborn Redskins late in the fourth quarter for a 56-50 Western Buckeye League win. The Titans are 4-2 in the WBL and 10-6 on the season.

Ottawa-Glandorf had a 42-39 lead after three quarters as they overcame a 30-27 deficit behind four points from Noah Bramlage late in the quarter and three-pointers from Alex Schroeder and Brad Recker for the lead.

Recker hit two three-pointers in the fourth quarter around two free throws from the Redskins’ Kodi Morman for a 48-41 lead. Two free throws from Matias Trampe-Kindt gave O-G a 50-41 lead with 5:16 left before the Titans offense went silent for nearly four minutes. Meanwhile the Redskins used five points from Adam Henderson to pull within 50-46.

Bramlage ended the Titans dryspell with two free throws with 1:17 left before Ethan Good answered back with a three-pointer to cut the O-G lead to 52-49. Schroeder answered back with a free throw for O-G and Henderson matched that at the other end. After another Schroeder free throw for a 54-50 Titan lead, the Redskins missed two free throws and after an O-G turnover, missed two shots. With one second left, Tyler Zender sealed the O-G win with two free throws for the final score.

“Wapakoneta played really well tonight. I thought they shot the ball really well,” O-G coach Tyson McGlaughlin said. “We forced them to do some things as a coaching staff that we wanted them to do. We forced them into some shots we wanted them to take, but they hit a high percentage of their shots tonight. Defensively I felt we were slow all night, I don’t think we were menatally ready and that’s my fault as a coach. We went through the motions at times and when you do that you can give a team confidence.”

Bramlage finished the night with 14 points and Recker had 13 points as he hit four three-pointers, including a bank shot three-pointer to beat the first quarter buzzer.

Recker’s shot gave O-G a 15-10 lead after one quarter as they scored the final seven points of the quarter. Recker had four of the points and Bramlage hit a three-pointer. The Titans had a 25-24 lead at halftime as the two teams battled back and forth as there were three lead changes in the quarter. A Bramlage three-pointer gave the Titans the lead after 16 minutes.

Ottawa-Glandorf won the junior varsity game 51-28 to stay undefeated on the season.
