FINDLAY - Leipsic withstood a fourth quarter charge by Columbus Grove Friday night to claim a 66-59 win in the Division IV district finals before a packed house at Liberty-Benton.
The win sends the Vikings (22-4) to the Bowling Green State University regional semi-finals Tuesday at 6:15 against Edgerton. The Bulldogs finish the season at 17-8.
The Bulldogs pulled within 55-54 of the Vikings in the final quarter before Leipsic went on an 11-5 run to end the game and advance to the regionals. It will be the Vikings first regional appearance since the 1995 season.
Senior guard Devin Mangas led the Vikings late fourth quarter charge with 11 straight points, including a pair of baseline jumpers that helped extend the Leipsic lead out to five points.
Mangas finished the game with 34 points, giving him a total of 66 points in the two district games at Liberty-Benton. Aric Schroeder finished with 11 points for the Vikings. Austin Brown grabbed six rebounds for Leipsic and Mangas had six.
Junior Will Vorhees paced the Bulldogs with 18 points and eight rebounds. Derek Rieman added 10 points and grabbed five rebounds
