Vikings fall short in BVC opener

LEIPSIC - Leipsic put together a furious second half rally Thursday night, but fell short of overcoming a strong first half by McComb as they fell 67-66 to the Panthers in Blanchard Valley Conference effort.
The Panthers had a 39-29 halftime lead before the Vikings outscored McComb 37-28 in the second half. Leipsic had a chance to pull out a win in the closing seconds but a 20 foot shot attempt by Haley Gerten skimmed off the rim as time expired.
Emily Clymer led the Panthers with 22 points and Caelie Reed had 16 points.
Gerten led the Vikings with a game high 28 points and eight rebounds. Amber Gerdeman added 19 points and also had eight rebounds. Maddie Steffan finished with 10 points.
RAWSON - Pandora-Gilboa outscored Cory-Rawson in every quarter Thursday night as the Rockets posted a 52-33 Blanchard Valley Conference win.
The Rockets (2-0) had a 14-12 first quarter lead then added to that in every quarter.
Megan Maag led the Rockets with 16 points and nine rebounds. Hunter Hermiller and Ashley Williams both had 11 points for P-G. Williams also dished out eight assists.
Kendra Tuttle led the Hornets with 14 points.
St. Marys 44
ST. MARYS - Kalida outscored St. Marys in the middle two quarters Thursday night to post a 49-44 non-league win.
The Wildcats (1-1) posted a 14-12 scoring advantage in the second quarter and a 12-9 edge in the third quarter. The two teams played even in the first and fourth quarters.
Kylie Osterhage led the Wildcats with 11 points and Elizabeth Turnwald finished with 10.
Kelsey Rohrbach led the Roughriders with 11 points.
CONTINENTAL - Continental jumped out to a quick lead Thursday night as the Pirates posted a 62-35 non-league win.
The Pirates (1-1) outscored the Aces 22-6 in the first quarter and never looked back.
Paige Ordway led the Pirates with 15 points and Leva Weller added 14 points. Weller also pulled down 10 rebounds for Continental.
Columbus Grove 54
ELIDA - Columbus Grove used a strong second half to force overtime before Elida won the battle in the extra session to claim a 58-54 non-league win.
Columbus Grove trailed 24-19 at halftime before outscoring Elida (2-1) in the second half 27-22 to force overtime. In the extra session the host Bulldogs outscored Grove 12-8 for the win.
Sabrina Cline led Elida with 17 points, O'sha Owens had 12 points and Tori McAdams had 11 points.
Sammi Stechschulte had 17 points to lead Columbus Grove and Sydney McCluer had 10 points. Renee Karhoff pulled down 12 rebounds for the Bulldogs.
Miller City 32
MILLER CITY - Ayersville held Miller City to 11 second half points in posting a 54-32 non-league win.
The Pilots (2-1) a 22-21 halftime lead before outscoring the Wildcats 32-11 in the second half.
Molly Hammersmith had 17 points for the Pilots and Megan Schubert finished with 12 points.
Melissa Michel had 19 points and 13 rebounds for the Wildcats (0-3). Haley Lammers added 11 points as just three Miller City players scored in the game.
