LIMA — Leipsic and Crestview were involved in a back and forth game Saturday night at Lima Senior High School.
The Knights went up one point late in the third quarter, only to see the Vikings Haley Gerten beat the third quarter clock with a three-pointer that had Leipsic up 27-26 going to the final eight minutes.
The fourth quarter, though, belonged to Crestview as they outscored the Vikings 13-6 to claim a 39-33 win in the Division IV district finals at Lima Senior.
The win sends the Knights to the Division IV regional finals at Elida this Thursday, while the Vikings saw their season end at 21-4.
Defense was key for the Knights in the final quarter as they allowed the Vikings only one point for the first five minutes of the final quarter as they took a 33-28 lead. Leipsic pulled within33-30 with 1:50 left, but they would get no closer. And while the Knights struggled at the free throw line, the Vikings managed only three points the rest of the way in falling to Crestview.
Lindsey Motycka led the Knights with 14 points and Emily Bauer chipped in with 13.
Haley Gerten paced the Vikings with 14 points and Amber Gerdeman pulled down eight rebounds.
