Vikings one back in BVC volleyball race

ARCADIA - Leipsic had to battle to stay in the Blanchard Valley Conference volleyball race Wednesday evening as they were pushed to four games by Arcadia before coming away with a 22-25, 25-13, 26-24, 25-20.
The win moves the Vikings to 5-1 in the BVC and 14-1 overall. The Vikings are a game behind McComb (6-0) in the conference standings.
Haley Gerten served up four aces for the Vikings as she was 23-of-23 serving and had seven kills as she was 15-of-16 hitting with 10 digs. Kelly Nadler was 29-of-35 hitting with 15 kills, five blocks and 13 digs, while Amber Gerdeman had 15 kills as she was 21-of-23 hitting along with two aces and 11 blocks. Emily Ellerbrock had two aces as she was 11-of-11 serving and 23 assists as she was 53-of-53 setting with 15 digs and Rachel Rieman had nine assists as she was 35-of-35 setting with six digs.
Brooke Gerdeman had four kills on 7-of-7 hitting along with four blocks and Maddie Steffan had four blocks and Shaylynn Morman had 13 digs.
Arcadia won the junior varsity match 26-24, 15-25, 25-14.
