LEIPSIC - Leipsic set up a showdown for second place in the Blanchard Valley Conference Wednesday night with a 25-10, 25-10, 25-3 win over Vanlue.
The win moves the Vikings to 7-1 in the BVC and 15-2 overall. The 14th ranked Vikings, in this week's Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Poll, meet 17th ranked McComb (7-1, 17-3) for what could be second place in the conference or possibly first place should Liberty-Benton fall in their final BVC match. The Eagles are 8-0 in the BVC and have clinched a share of first place.
Kendra Gerten was 15 of 15 serving for the Vikings Wednesday with 15 points and five digs. Haley Gerten served up eight aces and had seven kills as she was 10 of 11 hitting.
Kelly Nadler served up three aces and was 16 of 17 hitting with nine kills and five digs, while Amber Gerdeman served two aces and had eight kills along with two blocks. Emily Ellerbrock had two aces and 28 assists in the win.
Leipsic won the junior varsity match 25-11, 25-5.
PANDORA - Pandora-Gilboa won the first set Wednesday night before Liberty-Benton rebounded to claim a 26-28, 25-20, 25-20, 25-13 Blanchard Valley Conference win.
The win allowed the Eagles to clinch at-least a share of the BVC title as they are 8-0 and 16-2 overall. P-G dropped to 4-4 in the BVC and 12-5 overall. The Eagles can claim an outright BVC title should they defeat Cory-Rawson Monday.
Vivian Nofziger was 17 of 17 serving Wednesday with an ace and she was 90 of 100 setting with 30 assists and nine digs. Megan Maag had 18 kills as she was 43 of 51 hitting with 11 digs and Olivia Maag was 33 of 37 hitting with 10 kills and Hunter Hemiller was 27 of 27 hitting with six kills.
Liberty-Benton won the junior varsity match 25-20, 20-25, 25-21.
ELIDA - Ottawa-Glandorf remained undefeated in Western Buckeye League volleyball Tuesday night with a 25-21, 23-25, 25-19, 25-16 win over Elida.
The Titans are now 6-0 in the WBL and 13-5 overall.
Niki Ellerbrock had a big night for the Titans at the net pounding 24 kills and coming up with 29 digs. Stacy Walker pounded 17 kills, while Kelsey Baldwin had 24 digs and Anna Bellamn had four blocks. Kelley Selhorst had 24 assists in the win along with two aces and 13 digs.
O-G won the junior varsity match 25-15, 26-24.
Columbus Grove 3
COLUMBUS GROVE - Columbus Grove remained in the thick of the Northwest Conference race Tuesday night with a 25-20, 25-8, 25-17 win over Ada.
The Bulldogs are 6-1 in the NWC heading into a Thursday night match against Crestview.
Sydney McClure served up five aces for the Bulldogs in the win and she had eight digs. Julia Wynn pounded 10 kills and had seven blocks, while Rachel Schumacher had 22 assists.
Columbus Grove won he junior varsity match 25-16, 25-17.
