With the Vikings leading 62-61 and time winding down, the Wildcats had the shot they wanted as they were about to take a layup. Leipsic's Mitch Kuhlman preserved the win when he blocked the shot attempt to give the Vikings the win. It was the only blocked shot of the night for the Vikings.
Leipsic took a 49-43 lead to the fourth quarter before the Wildcats rallied in the final quarter to outscore the Vikings 18-13 to make things interesting. The Vikings were up 38-29 at the break before Vanlue spent the second half trying to catch the Vikings to elude a second straight BVC loss.
Devin Mangas paced the Vikings (3-0, 9-1) with 21 points, six steals and five rebounds, while Zach Kuhlman had 17 points. Caleb Barrera pulled down eight rebounds for the Vikings.
Zach Garber had a big night for Vanlue (2-2, 8-2) with 29 points, 18 rebounds and three blocked shots.
Columbus Grove 56
COLUMBUS GROVE - Columbus Grove outscored Paulding in overtime Friday night to claim a 56-52 Northwest Conference win.
The win moves the Bulldogs to 2-1 in the NWC and 7-3 overall.
After Paulding outscored Grove in the fourth quarter to force overtime, the Bulldogs used an 8-4 scoring margin in overtime for the win.
Derek Rieman and Will Vorhees paced the Bulldog attack with 18 points and six rebounds, each. Blake Hoffman scored nine points for Grove.
L. Foor had 20 points for the Panthers.
Fort Jennings 28
FORT JENNINGS - Kalida held Fort Jennings to two points in the opening quarter as the Wildcats posted a 43-28 Putnam County League win.
The Wildcats (2-0, 4-6) outscored the Musketeers 14-2 in the opening eight minutes for a quick lead. Fort Jennings bounced back in the second quarter to outscore Kalida 7-5 before the Wildcats regained the momentum in the third quarter with a 11-7 scoring edge.
Austin Horstman had a big game for the Wildcats with 14 points and 19 rebounds. Devin Kortokrax chipped in 13 points for Kalida.
Connor Wallenhorst led the Musketeers (0-2, 1-11) with nine points. Brandon Kohli ripped down eight rebounds for Fort Jennings.
Miller City 51
CONTINENTAL - Miller City outscored Continental over the first three quarters Friday night on their way to a 51-43 Putnam County League win.
The Wildcats (2-1, 8-3) had a 15-13 lead after the opening quarter and were up 25-21 at the break. After three quarters, the Wildcats were leading 36-28 before both teams scored 15 points in the fourth quarter.
Ross Kaufman led the Wildcats with 19 points and Austin Lammers finished with 10 points. Adam Niese pulled down five rebounds for Miller City.
Justin Halliwill dropped in 18 points for the Pirates (0-2, 4-6) and Chaz Slattman finished with 14 points. Tyler Rue pulled down six rebounds for the Pirates.
