Sue Gerdeman is the newest member of the Kalida School Board of Education, after being appointed during a special meeting Thursday morning.
Administrators considered eight separate candidates for the open seat. Interested parties sent letters of inquiry to the treasurer.
"It is nice to have the selection process behind us, we had many interested parties that would have stepped in and represented our school," said Kalida Superintendent Don Horstman. "It's nice to have Sue join the board, she has been involved with the school for years."
Gerdeman's term expires on Dec. 31, 2013.
Board members sadly accepted the resignation of Gary Stechschulte during their Feb. 3, 2010 meeting. The former school board vice president stepped down due to personal reasons.
"Gary has represented our school with a lot of class, and we thank him for his dedication," stated Horstman after the Feb. 3 meeting.
