FINDLAY - It's been 22 years since Pandora-Gilboa last won a district championship. For a while Saturday night it appeared as if that streak may stretch another year.
With Arlington hitting amazing percentage of their shots, the Rockets found themselves down by 11 points at the break, P-G was still down 11 points when they turned the game around as they rallied for a 45-38 win in the Division IV district final at Liberty-Benton High School.
The win sends the Rockets to the Elida Regional Thursday night. P-G is 21-2 on the season, while the Red Devils finish 20-3 on the season.
The Red Devils played a sound first half shooting nearly 60 percent from the floor. Arlington was up 7-6 in the opening quarter when the Red Devils went on a 10-3 run to end the first quarter.
The Red Devils continued to pull away in the second quarter going up 26-12 before settling for 31-20 halftime lead.
The two teams traded four point runs to start the third quarter. After a P-G timeout, the Rockets went on a 16-0 run that carried over into the fourth quarter. Taylor Hermiller started the run with five points, while Stephanie Recker had four points, Leah Luginbill and Connie Schulte two each and Samantha Schmenk hit a big three.
The Red Devils pulled within two points in the final quarter on a three-pointer before the Rockets scored the final five points of the game.
