Money raised for park at Summerfest
OTTAWA - Residents flocked to Ottawa Memorial Park on Saturday night for food and beverages as well as free entertainment. Proceeds for the event went back into projects and maintenance for Memorial Park.

Fireman's convention in Ottoville
During the 139th NOVFA Convention held in Ottoville over the weekend, volunteer firemen rise to the Firemen's Challenge, which is a course set up with stations that tests the participants skills, strength and stamina, including dragging a dummy and carrying weighted buckets and a pair of firehouses. The convention wrapped up Saturday with a parade through the streets of Ottoville.

Mobile home destroyed by strong winds
NORTH CREEK - A North Creek family was left homeless Wednesday evening after their mobile home was destroyed by strong winds as a line of severe thunderstorms approached the area.
The mobile home belonged to Jeremy Nienberg and Darla Seeger. They were home when the storm hit along with two children and a grandparent. Seeger had to be freed from the wreckage by fire department personnel. Two of the residents of the mobile were transported to a local hospital and all five residents were treated for various injuries. None of the victims were hospitalized for serious injuries.
Friends and neighbors spent Thursday helping the family cleanup and gather personal items. The American Red Cross is providing the family residence at a Defiance area hotel for a couple of days.

Severe weather and possible flooding could hit county
OTTAWA -According to the National Weather Service, a possible wind storm could come across the Midwest and hit Putnum County early Thursday morning. The weather pattern could spawn severe windstorms with gusts as strong as 100 mph. The National Weather Service is also predicting possible flooding.

Kalida Fire Dept. improves insurance classification, decreases insurance premiums
KALIDA - The Kalida Fire Department was notified by the Insurance Services Office (ISO) of an improvement in the fire insurance classification for the township areas protected by the department. Known as the ISO Public Protection Classification, this rating has improved from Class 9 to Class 7, effective Aug. 1. Kalida Fire Department is the first fire department in Northwest Ohio to earn a classification better than Class 9 in areas without fire hydrants.
