Young traveler thankful for support To the editor:
This thank you is for all the supporters who helped me go on my journey overseas with the People to People Ambassador Program. Going over to teach people about our culture and to learn about theirs was so awesome and a spectacular experience. With the contributions everybody gave I had the best experience I could ever have in three weeks. While on my trip, I learned so much about Europe's history and I wouldn't have learned that if it weren't for everybody's generous donation.
A lot of you know where I went but you don't know what I all did in the countries. The first country we went to was Ireland. While there, we saw why everything is so green. We also got to go inside some of the old castles, especially the Blarney Castle where we got to kiss the Blarney stone for good luck. Then we went to Wales. Wales was an interesting country to go to because we got to see how different our schooling systems are, but they really aren't that different. From Wales we went to England. In England we were not lucky enough to see the queen but we did see the outside of Buckingham Palace. We also saw the changing of the guards but my favorite thing we did in England was riding the London Eye. The London Eye is the largest ferris wheel in the world and takes a half hour for one rotation. We also talked to a retired Parliament member which was a bit overwhelming. Then it was off to the Netherlands. While there, we saw how wooden shoes and cheese are made. Next, we went to Belgium and saw how Belgium chocolate is made and then we ate some of it and we all agreed it was the best chocolate anyone had ever had. Finally, we were off to France but we only went to Paris. In Paris we went to the Louvre Museum where we saw the Mona Lisa and other interesting artifacts. While there, we also went to the very top of the Eiffel Tower and that was a spectacular view. Those were some of the things we did but we got to do so much more.
To all the sponsors who helped me do all these wonderful things, thank you and your donations were greatly appreciated. I can only hope more students and schools around this area as well as sponsors would recognize this fantastic government sponsored program to help promote peace around the world.
I would like to thank all the businesses, individuals, friends and family for all of their support to make this possible.
Hello Rebecca, what a wonderful opportunity. I have a friend who's son will going next summer 2010. Would you be so kind to share how you were able to raise the money for this wonderful opportunity. Thank you, Karen
