Ottawa-Glandorf's Kathryn Samuelson competes in the 100 Backstroke at the Division II district meet.
BOWLING GREEN - Ottawa-Glandorf's swim teams competed in the DIvision II district meet Friday afternoon at the Bowling Green State University Student Recreation Pool. The Titans were unable to get an automatic qualifier to next weeks state meet although freshman Kathyrn Samuelson has an outside shot at getting an at-large bid in the 100 Backstroke. Samuelson finished third in the 100 Backstroke Friday night with a time of 1:01.31. Lexington's Hannah Stevens won the event in 56.73 and Napoleon's Makenzie Garringer finished second (58.73) to claim the two automatic berths to state. The rest of the state field will be filled by the best times from the districts across the state. Overall, the Lady Titans had three relay teams place Friday at BGSU as the 200 Meldey Relay team of Samuelson, Megan Hoehn, Amber Ellerbrock and Marna Hempfling finished seventh in 1:57.85, the 200 Freestyle Relay team of Hempfling, Carly Inkrott, Amanda Kreinbrink and Samuelson finished 10th in 1:45.50 and the 400 Freestyle Relay team of Ellerbrock, Inkrott, Ashley Siefker and Kreinbrink were 11th in 3:57.85. In the 200 IM, the Titans' Ashley Siefker finished 15th in 2:26.37. On the boys side, the Titans' Nick Fenbert placed in two events. Fenbert finished 11th in the 100 Butterfly in 57.24 and Fenbert was 16th in the 200 IM in 2:11.88. The Lady Titans finished 12th in the district field with 70 points and the O-G boys scored seven points.
