MILLER CITY - The first time Continental and Columbus Grove met on the softball field the two battled for ten innings before the Pirates won the Putnam County League game.
In the Division IV sectional finals Wednesday afternoon it was a different story. The Pirates dominated the rematch as they defeated the Bulldogs 11-0 in a five inning game. The win sends the Pirates to the Division IV district tournament at Elida next week where they will face Lincolnview. The Pirates were complete control of this sectional final as they scored twice in the first inning before adding a run in the second inning and two in the third inning. A six run fourth inning sealed the Bulldogs fate. Leva Weller picked up the win for Continental as she tossed a two hitter. Weller also had two singles, a home run and six RBI. Alex Quigley had a single and double and Taylor Williamson ad two singles and scored three runs. erika Fitzwater had a single and two RBI. Bobbi Heckle took the loss for Columbus Grove. Deanna Kleman and Brianna Glass both had a single for the Bulldogs.
Parkway 12 Ottoville 1 MIDDLE POINT - Parkway grabbed an early lead Wednesday afternoon as the Panthers defeated Ottoville 12-1 in the Division IV sectional finals at Lincolnview. The Panthers advance to the Division IV district tournament at Elida to face Patrick Henry on Tuesday. Parkway scored three times in the top of the first and were up 6-0 going to the seventh when they put together a six run outburst. The Big Green scored their lone run in the bottom of the first. Tara Walls had a single, double and triple for the Panthers, while Sierra Fent had a home run. Kenzie Martin had a double for the Big Green.
