Bulldogs spikers move to 3-0 COLUMBUS GROVE - Columbus Grove's volleyball team moved to 3-0 on the season Monday with a 3-1 win over DeGraff Riverside.
The Bulldogs won the match 23-25, 25-12, 25-17 and 25-21.
Mackenzie Vorst powered the Bulldogs Monday with 15 kills, eight blocks and five ace serves. Jena Diller hammered 10 kills and had 18 digs.
Emily Karhoff served up five aces, Stephanie Etzkorn had 23 digs and Case Osterhage had five blocks. Paige Gerdeman handed out 40 assists in the match.
Columbus Grove won the junior varsity match 25-8, 25-14.

Miller City 1
TINORA - Miller City won the opening game Monday night, but could not keep the momentum rolling as they fell to Tinora 3-1 in the season opener for both teams.
The Wildcats won the first game 25-20, but watched as the Rams won the next three games 25-21, 25-22 and 25-20.
Dana Otto served up three aces for Miller City (0-1) as she was 16-of-16 serving and she was 16-of-17 hitting with six kills and three blocks. Marci Palte was 10-of-10 serving and 40-of-42 setting with 11 assists. Emily Doster was 16-of-19 setting and Sarah Carpenter was 10-of-11 hitting. Courtney Niese had five kills, while Ali Lammers had four digs.
Tinora won the junior varsity match 25-20, 25-19.
Pandora-Gilboa sweeps
triangular Saturday
KENTON - Pandora-Gilboa opened the volleyball season Saturday by winning two matches in a triangular at Kenton.
The Rockets defeated Kenton 25-12, 25-14, then stopped Riverdale 25-21, 25-18.
Leah Luginbill had seven aces for the Rockets as she was 12-of-12 serving with eight kills. Brooke Maag was 9-of-9 serving and dished out 18 assists. Kristyn Hovest was 8-of-8 serving with two aces and pounded eight kills. Ellie Braidic served up two aces and pounded six kills as she was 7-of-8 hitting.
In junior varsity action, the Rockets defeated Riverdale 25-14, 25-19.

Elida 0
ELIDA - Leipsic opened the volleyball season by sweeping Elida 3-0 in non-conference action Saturday. The Vikings opened the season with a 25-18, 25-19, 25-15 win over the Bulldogs.
Abby Klinebriel was 10-of-10 serving for the Vikings and handed out 23 assists as she was 74-of-74 setting. Chelsea Gerten was 6-of-6 serving and pounded 12 kills, while Molly Ellerbrock had 12 digs and Olivia Brown 11.

PETTISVILLE - Columbus Grove opened the volleyball season by winning a pair of matches in a triangular at Pettisville.
The Bulldogs defeated Patrick Henry 25-11, 25-17, then took care of Pettisville 25-15, 26-24.
In the Patrick Henry, Mackenzie Vorst had six kills, two aces and three blocks for the Bulldogs, while Steph Etzkorn had two aces and Jenna Diller six kills. Paige Gerdeman handed out 18 assists in the match.
Columbus Grove won the junior varsity match 25-22, 25-14.
In the match with Pettisville, Vorst had seven kills and three blocks. Gerdeman handed out 20 assists, Kelsey McCluer two aces and Etzkorn had four digs.
Columbus Grove won the junior varsity match 18-25, 25-19, 25-14.
Titans fourth
at Coldwater
COLDWATER - Ottawa-Glandorf opened the volleyball season with a fourth place finish at the Coldwater Invitational Saturday.
The Titans went 1-2 at this season opening tournament as they defeated New Knoxville before dropping matches to St. Henry and Coldwater. There were eight teams in the event.
O-G opened with a 25-16, 25-14 win over New Knoxville before falling to St. Henry 26-24, 25-10. In the third place match Coldwater rallied to defeat the Titans 25-16, 26-28, 21-25.
In the New Knoxville match, Sam Maag and Sara Basinger both had two aces and three kills for O-G. Melissa Verhoff had five kills for the Titans and Shannon Roof three solo blocks. Mara Jacobs had nine sets. Hannah Kaufman and Sara Basinger both had two digs.
In the St. Henry match, Basinger had nine kills and an ace, while Verhoff had five kills and Hannah Kaufman an ace. Jacobs had 12 sets.
