Ottawa-Glandorf falls to Chagrin Falls FREMONT - Ottawa-Glandorf didn't go down without a fight Saturday night during their Division IV state semi-final at Fremont Ross High School.
The Titans battled down to final seconds before falling to the unbeaten Tigers 20-14 at Don Paul Stadium. The Tigers (14-0) advance to the state finals next Saturday, while O-G saw a fantastic season end at 11-3.
Chagrin Falls broke a 14-14 tie with 3:52 left to play when Bobby Winkleman scored on a one yard run. The Titans' Brian Laubenthal blocked the extra point making it a six point game.
O-G took over at their own 33 and drove to the Tiger 23. That's where the drive ended as the Tiger defense halted the Titans drive as they batted down a fourth down pass in the endzone to secure their first trip to state.
Chagrin Falls too a 7-0 lead in the opening quarter as Chris Gorman scored on a 25 yard run and he added the extra point. The drive was kept alive by a pass interference call after Laubenthal appeared to come up with an interception.
The Titans tied the gam at 7-7 with 4:32 left in the first half as Brandon Kuhlman scored on a four yard run and Mike Bendele added the extra point. That's the way the game stood at halftime.
O-G opened the second half by taking the opening kickoff and scoring when Nathan Kahle bulled over from two yards out. The drive was set up by a 71 yard kickoff return by Ryan Kuhlman.
CHagrin Falls came right back to tie the game as Chris Trinetti connected with Pat Nadeau on a 29 yard scoring pass.
Both teams had their chances to put points on the scoreboard after that, but were unable to because of the opposing defense that came up with key plays when they needed to.
