OTTAWA — On Friday evening, June 14th at 7:00 p.m. and Saturday afternoon June 15th at 1:00 p.m., the cast of the Putnam County Children’s Theatre will be staging a mini-musical salute to veterans titled, “Don’t Say No to the U.S.O.” in Ottawa- Glandorf high school’s auditorium. This year’s patriotic summer production was chosen specifically to coordinate with the centennial celebration of the founding of the national American Legion and of Kerner- Slusser Post #63, Ottawa.

The action takes place in a U.S.O. club located in Brooklyn, New York in 1942, where private Joe Kilroy and the hostesses and soldiers of W.W. II gather in their “home away from home.” The 54 member cast, including a band of Rosie-the-riveters, entertains with rousing song and dance music of the period. The musical is performed in one act with no intermission and concludes with a special tribute to the Armed Forces of the United States, honoring veterans and active duty personnel.

Tickets are not needed for either production, however, donations will be accepted at the door both before and after each show. For further information, call 419-890-7073.
