Kim A. Redman was sworn in as clerk of the Putnam County Clerk of Courts and Dr. Jennifer R. Maag was sworn in as Putnam County Coroner. Both were appointed to the position that expires Jan. 3, 2021.

Jan. 4

Megan E. Schnipke, 32, Columbus Grove, found guilty by a jury on a charge of forgery, and gross patient neglect, was sentenced to 60 days jail, pay restitution of $4,536.88, complete 100 hours of community service, with credit for one day served. A charge of patient neglect was dismissed.

Schnipke, along with Rachel R. Friesel, 37, of Pandora, and Destini M. Fenbert, 20, of Pandora, were charged in connection to the death of 76-year-old Phyllis J. Campbell on Jan. 7 at Hilty Memorial Nursing Home. Friesel and Fenbert were sentenced to 60-days jail on charges of forgery and gross patient neglect.

According to the Ohio Department of Health, Campbell was a resident of the memory care unit at Hilty. At 12:35 a.m. Jan. 7, Campbell wandered through a propped-open door to the dining room and left the facility through a door to the courtyard.
