Accidents

On July 2 at 7:25 a.m., Conrad Chaskel, 67, Findlay, was westbound on Road Q, Riley Township, operating a commercial semi and trailer. After stopping at the intersection of Road Q and State Route 696, Chaskel pulled out and struck a pickup truck towing a nurse tank, operated by Trevor Rieman, 21, Ottawa. The collision broke the nurse tank loose, which spun and spilled liquid nitrogen onto the roadway, causing a roughly two-hour closure while Putnam County Haz-Mat conducted clean-up.

On July 3 at 10:33 a.m., Susan Calvelage, 67, Kalida, was traveling east on U.S. Route 224, Ottawa Township, when she struck a vehicle owned by F and S Concrete, Kalida, which was stationary in the roadway while employees conducted work on a driveway.
