PANDORA — In early January, Pandora-Gilboa Teacher, Levin Hovest, invited a few recent graduates to his classroom to speak to students about life after high school. This is the first year that the Pandora-Gilboa High School has offered this course called, “Real World PG.”

“Real World P-G will prepare students for life after high school,” said Principal Jeff Wise. “They will learn skills that adults should know to be successful in life. This ranges anywhere from applying for loans, buying a car or house, applying for jobs, to car maintenance, balancing your budget, and getting and using a credit card.”

“We hope that by taking this class, our graduates will be successful adults and hopefully avoid some of the pitfalls and mistakes people often make because they’re ignorant about how things work as an adult in the real world.”

This course will prepare young adults to make decisions for their future. Emphasis will be placed on acquiring knowledge, skills, and attitudes to help ensure successful living on one’s own. Topics will include finance management, career planning, and adult “survival skills” necessary to transition to adulthood and to play a vital role as a knowledgeable citizen in the community.
