PANDORA — Recently, the Pandora-Gilboa Middle School Council planned a Thanksgiving Party with the assistance of their advisors, Dawn Oedy and Julie Gilgenbaugh.

During the week prior to Thanksgiving, the students brought in canned goods to donate to the Food Pantry. Each student then used the canned goods to vote for the teacher they wanted in the school’s pie eating contest. The eight teachers with the heaviest boxes had to eat a quarter of a pie. The first one done was the winner.

This motivation proved effective, as the students collected a total of 300 pounds of food.

The festivities did not end there. On Tuesday, Nov. 20, the PGMS student body watched the movie, “Free Birds.” In the movie, a turkey travels back through time in order to remove the bird from the Thanksgiving menu, forever. Instead, the turkey delivers pizza to the very first Thanksgiving.

To stick with the theme of this movie, the Middle School Council sold pizza slices and drinks. The profits from this sale will go towards renovating the Pandora- Gilboa School playground.
