PUTNAM COUNTY — Approximately 170 bus drivers from the nine local schools and the Putnam County Board of DD attended the annual safety meeting hosted by Dr. Jan Osborn and Ann Niese of the Putnam County Educational Service Center. The meeting was held at the Kalida K of C Hall on August 7, 2018.

Presenting at the meeting was: Nationally known speaker, Jesus Villahermosa Jr,, Crisis Reality Training Inc. from University Place, Washington. The presentation was facilitated by Joe Dietrich, State Bus Driver Instructor for the Ohio Department of Education.

The evening included the presentation of service awards. All drivers were presented certificates of appreciation denoting their years of experience. Local School Superintendents gave service plaques to the following drivers:

40 years — Ronald Miller, Ottoville

30 years — Jeffrey Lugibihl, Pandora-Gilboa; Sue Schroeder, Ottawa-Glandorf

25 years — Jean Forster, Miller City-New Cleveland; Carl Kaufman, Ottawa-Glandorf

15 years — Bernard Kleman, Columbus Grove; Shelly Schroeder, Columbus Grove; Lynette DeLong, Ottoville; Ted Sigler, Pandora-Gilboa.

The Putnam County Educational Service Center sponsors this meeting to meet three hours of the annual inservice and safety training required of all public school bus drivers. Each local school is responsible for one additional hour of annual training for their drivers.
