UNION TWP — Early Tuesday morning, firefighters from four area departments responded to a house fire in rural Kalida.

At approximately 4 a.m., emergency responders were alerted to a fire at 13970 Road 14 in Union Township. On arrival, firefighters with the Kalida Volunteer Fire Department determined the fire was limited to the attic. A subsequent call for mutual aid was answered by members of the Columbus Grove, Glandorf, and Ottoville Fire Departments.

After clearing the scene of the original fire, Kalida FD personnel were called back to a rekindle at roughly 9:45 a.m. Members of the Ottoville Volunteer Fire Department answered a second call for mutual aid.

Also on scene during the original call were officers with the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office and Putnam County EMS.
