KALIDA - Development is well underway for a new community park in Kalida and the plans are very impressive.

Located on Road M off State Route 114 (between the Outreach Center and B-K Tools), the Kalida Park will encompass 70 acres on both sides of the road with a small lake and plenty of walking trails.

With the support of the Kalida Lions Club and the Athletic Boosters the park will feature a running track, five soccer fields, basketball courts, disc golf, additional ball diamonds, three shelter houses and an open pavilion with a fireplace by the lake.

Development of the new park is being done primarily by volunteers and funded through donations and fund raising efforts of the Lion's Club and the Athletic Boosters. Materials have also been donated.

The Lion's Club will be hosting an OSU-Wisconsin Tailgating Party on October 16 at the Park. The event will begin at noon with a Cornhole Tournament at 3 p.m. Kickoff for the game is scheduled for 7 p.m. There will be live music before and after the game featuring Hipnotix. The public is invited, but you must be 21 years of age or older to attend. It will be the first time they will be having the tailgate party in the building at the park with an additional tent outside.
