PUTNAM COUNTY — After two years of discussion, site inspections, and requests for input from county residents, the Putnam County Board of Elections, following a special meeting on Monday, announced it will cut the number of county polling precincts by one-third. With no measures or elections before county voters in May, this means residents will travel to 12 polling centers for next November’s general election, down from 18 during last November’s election.

According to Elections Director Karen Lammers, the board’s decision to reduce the number of precincts from 18 to 12 took into account a number of factors. While cost was certainly one — and likely not the least — of them, the move addresses a number of other concerns, as well: handicap accessibility and parking availability being high on the list.

The following is a list of polling locations and the townships and municipalities appointed to those precincts. Those townships and municipalities — or segments thereof — listed in bold indicates a change.
