OTTAWA - Whirlpool may be the new owners of W.C. Wood Company in Ottawa, pending the completion of a transaction with W.C. Wood's Receiver, BDO Dunwoody LLP.

On Tuesday, a Canadian bankruptcy court approved the sale. No word yet on what Whirlpool's plans are for Ottawa's facility.

"We have not heard a thing from Whirlpool at this time, but we are anxiously waiting for them to call because we would like to sit down and find out what they have planned for the facility in Ottawa," said Ottawa Economic Development Director Jeff Loehrke.

W.C. Wood Company specialized in making freezers for Whirlpool and other companies before it closed its doors last month. Approximately 150 workers lost their jobs.
